While the pay is competitive for part-time retail work, those seeking stable full-time hours or benefits may want to look elsewhere. It's a good fit for individuals seeking flexible work in a nonprofit setting.
About this role
Goodwill is hiring Store Clerks/Cashiers to assist in retail operations, customer service, and processing sales transactions in New Orleans.
What Customers Say
Workers appreciate the community impact and flexible hours, but note challenges of part-time stability and demanding retail conditions.
Expert Review
Goodwill's Store Clerk/Cashier position offers a competitive hourly wage between $14 and $21, which is appealing for part-time retail work. The role involves operating cash registers, assisting customers, and helping with store operations, making it suitable for those with strong interpersonal skills. This position allows for flexibility, accommodating various schedules, which is beneficial for students or those needing part-time work.
However, potential candidates should note the part-time nature of the role, which might not provide consistent hours or benefits typical of full-time employment. While working in a retail environment can be rewarding, it also comes with challenges like demanding customer interactions and the physical aspect of stocking shelves. Goodwill encourages a sense of community and provides opportunities for growth, but those seeking a steady full-time job may need to consider additional options.
